Your Body Is Telling You Something. Are You Listening?

Self Awareness Success New Perspective Life Self Growth Self Discovery Self-Rescue 4 min read

You know that feeling when something just doesn't sit right? That nagging sensation in your gut, the exhaustion that won't shift, or the third time this month you've stubbed your toe? We brush these things off as coincidence or bad luck. But what if I told you these are actually previews, the little hints your body and life are giving you before something bigger comes along? Your body is telling you something. Are you listening?

Whether there's a serious illness, a relationship breakdown, or a moment that stops you in your tracks, there is the moment before a life bomb hits. There are always whispers. Almost like hidden signs. Those small accidents. Recurring minor illnesses. That heaviness on your chest. The sore throat that keeps coming back. Your body is literally speaking to you, trying to get your attention before things become catastrophic.

But we've been taught to dismiss ourselves. To push through. To ignore what we're feeling and keep going. But when we do that, those whispers get louder. They become shouts. And eventually, they become life bombs that force us to stop and listen.

Your Intuition Is Your Internal Compass

From the moment we're born, we have this incredible sixth sense. It’s our intuition. It's our soul's way of helping us navigate life. But somewhere along the way, we learned to turn it off. We started trusting everyone else's opinions more than our own knowing. And in the process we abandon ourselves and our wellbeing.

You know that feeling you get about someone that doesn't quite add up? You're right. That sense that something needs to change in your life? Spot on. That vibe that tells you you're on the wrong path? Absolutely accurate. Your intuition is designed to keep you aligned with your truth. When you ignore it, life has a way of redirecting you. Sometimes that’s gently with a nagging feeling. And sometimes it’s much more forcefully with a life bomb. The key is learning to tune back in before the gentle nudges become massive shoves.

Your Body Stores Your Story and Your Body Is Telling You Something.

Here's something fascinating... your body literally stores your emotions and experiences as physical sensations. What about that ongoing sinus issue I hear you ask. Sinus issues often relate to feeling annoyed or irritated by something you can't control. The persistent headaches? They can signal you're spending too much time in everyone else's headspace instead of your own. The exhaustion that just won't lift? Your body is begging you to stop treating yourself like a leftover.

Having worked with over 12,000 different bodies for over 27 years, I've never seen an ailment or recurring illness that didn't coincide with an emotional situation that didn’t make sense. Not once. Your body is incredibly intelligent, and it's constantly communicating with you through these signals. I don’t want this to be about blame. It’s about coming to understand. And understanding gives you empowerment. It provides you with information that you can use to make an informed choice.

When you understand what your body is trying to tell you, you can support yourself differently. You can make changes before things become serious. You can honour what you need instead of waiting until you're forced to stop.

Small Signals Prevent Big Bombs

Think about the signals for a minute...

  • that major illness you had, did you ignore those stomach issues before it for ages?
  • Before that relationship ended, were there red flags you dismissed?
  • Before you burned out completely, hadn't you been exhausted for months? Or
  • Before something shifted in your cycle, you'd had persistent skin changes.

The patterns are there. And the previews play out long before the main event.

When we become curious about these signals instead of dismissing them, we give ourselves the gift of early intervention. We get to support ourselves before we're lying on the floor in the foetal position, unable to cope. This is about coming back to you. It's about making you the most important person in your own life. Because you can't live without you.

Take Back Your Power

So what now? Now you’re starting to notice that your body is telling you something. Start by tuning into how you feel. Really feel. Not what you think you should feel. But what's actually happening in your body and your emotions. Get curious about those recurring issues. Ask yourself:

  • What is my body trying to tell me?
  • What feeling have I been dismissing?

And know that, you don't have to wait for life to go your way to start to feel safe, happy and revitalised like yourself again. Your overall health helps to redirect you and your emotional state stops needing to protect you through body signals. Your physical symptoms can reduce as you reduce stress, and as you learn to navigate whatever comes with self-awareness, self-trust, and self-love. Because that's the real shift that’s possible in your daily life. From being dependent on life going perfectly and all those signals being muted, to being the empowered player in your own story.
