Understanding Your Life Story and Why Everything About You Makes Perfect Sense

Self Awareness Happiness relationships New Perspective Life self love self development Self Growth Self Discovery Self-Rescue 4 min read

We spend so much of our lives trying to work out why things happen the way they do. Why we feel the way we feel. Why we make the choices we make. But what if your entire life story… from the moment you were born to the career you chose, has been trying to tell you something all along?

Your birth, your position in your family, the movies you loved as a child, even the job you ended up in... none of it is random. It’s your life narrative. It's all part of your story, and when you start to understand it, your life really starts to make sense. It creates your lifebook of understanding your life story.

How You Were Born Matters More Than You Think

Let's start at the very beginning. How you entered this world actually set the tone for how you experience life. And before feel like there's blame here, please know that there's absolutely no fault here. And that it's important to recognise that it's just part of your story.

If you were born via elective caesarean, you went from being tucked in and safe to suddenly being pulled into the world with no warning. That shock can create a pattern of anxiety throughout life. There can be a feeling of not being in control, not knowing what's coming next.

If you were an induction birth, there's often an underlying anger. A feeling of "I'm not being born the way I want". And that can show up as clashing with authority figures throughout life.

Your Position in the Family Reveals What You're Working On

Your position in your family isn't random either. You chose it before you came to earth because it would help you learn what your soul came here to learn.

The eldest child takes on responsibility. They're the organiser, the one everyone goes to. They're the one who needs to be in control.

The middle child fights for attention and love. There's always that feeling of "what about me?" They become overachievers or people pleasers, but underneath it all is that feeling of not being important enough.

The youngest child has the most "parents". There's mum, dad, and all their siblings telling them what to do. This creates the biggest people pleaser who struggles to make their own decisions because they're trying to keep everyone happy.

The only child feels like they don't belong. Everyone else has a buddy, but they can be left feeling like they're searching for that connection.

Your Career Isn't Random Either

If I can tell you your position in your family and your career, then we can almost pinpoint what you're working on in life. Because what we do is what we need.

Actors desperately want to be themselves but are terrified to do it. As a character, they can be 100% brave and fearless. But their soul misses them because they're being everyone else's version of themselves but not their own.

Nurses are working on feeling loved, nurtured, and looked after. What they give is what they want. They're amazing at nurturing others, but it doesn't come back to them.

Teachers want to be listened to. No one listened to them in their life, so they go into a classroom where all those beautiful little people have to listen to them.

Architects and accountants need order and structure. Everything has to make sense. Often they've experienced change they couldn't control, so now they create environments where everything is specific and balanced.

Beauticians create safe spaces where people feel loved and beautiful. And it's not just about beauty. It's about making people feel good about themselves.

Why You Picked Your Partner

When you first met your partner, there was a feeling you got. A sense of "I would feel safe with them" or "I would feel listened to."

That feeling… that's what you're working on.

What you thought they would give you is actually what you're learning to give yourself. Your partner is a mirror of what you're working on. Always. And this is critical for understanding your life story.

It All Makes Sense When You See It

When you start to understand your story. Pieces of your story like what your birth was, what your position in your family is, your career, and your relationships. When we know that about our stories, it’s almost like a secret power with things beginning to click into place. The richness of your life comes forward. You stop judging yourself. And you stop comparing yourself to others in ways that make you feel lacking.

Instead, you become in awe of exactly who you are and what you're working on. Giving you an understanding of your purpose and your strengths. And listening to your inside-in storytelling prompts.... you make sense to yourself, and that's the most empowering feeling in the world.

Every single thing that happens to you is part of your story. It’s human nature. In understanding your life story and in starting to see that story clearly, you can finally support yourself in the ways you've always needed.
